Hello Guys!

I just Installed  a new CPU in my desktop (AMD Phenon II X4 960T 3GHz Quad - Core) but when I turn on the PC the monitor is not receiving any signal and due to that the monitor is going into sleep mode, also the mouse and the keyboard are not working either. I have tried a bunch of tips that I found on youtube but nothing seems to be working. CMOS battery reset, RAM card removed and clean and a bunch more of other tips and everything I tried is useless. Also the CPU fan is working excellent, no beeps when I turn on the pc, actually everything looks normal but nothing on the screen. Maybe the pc needs a BIOS update?? What should I do?  Please Help.

Thanks

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I read your post and understand that you have upgraded the CPU (processor) and since then the monitor does not receive the display signal from the PC. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

I did some research and found the list of CPUs supported by the motherboard. Following is the list of CPUs that are supported:

NOTE: Only socket AM2+ processors are supported with this motherboard.

  • AMD Phenom II Quad-Core

  • AMD Phenom II Triple-Core

  • AMD Phenom Quad-Core (A) 9xxx series (AM2+)

  • AMD Phenom Triple-Core (T) 8xxx series (AM2+)

  • AMD Athlon X4

  • AMD Athlon X3

  • AMD Athlon X2 (B) (AM2+)

The AMD Phenom II X4 960T 3GHz Quad - Core does not seem to be a supported processor by the motherboard as this processor is suitable for AM3 socket. Detailedmotherboard specifications can be viewed via this link: http://hp.care/2hVy29Q

Hope this information is useful. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! 🙂
