Hello,
Please forgive my putting this message in the Hardware and Upgrades forum. There does not appear to be a forum devoted to warranty issues.
I just bought a Certified Refurbished HP Envy 17-u273cl laptop off of Amazon. It arrived this morning in fine condition and appears to be brand new, so for that I thank you, HP. I have tested it and it appears to be functioning perfectly.
However, during setup I found that its 1-year warranty expired on 5/17/18. That's more than two months before I made my purchase even though I've only owned the thing for two hours. HP is now inviting me to purchase an "extension", in effect saying that the original warranty is "null and void" and if I wanted a warranty I would have to "purchase" it separately.
So, is HP really trying to sell refurbished laptops as new but with NO WARRANTY attached? An option for a four year warranty was offered and I thought that if I purchased it that would take effect after the manufacturer's 1-year warranty had expired. NO MENTION was made, either from HP or Amazon, that the original warranty would already be expired at the time of delivery. That important detail wasn't in the purchase agreeement when I made my purchase.
How do I correct this oversight?
Thank you.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.
