HP Desktop M01-F0016
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've previously asked, "What GPUs would work with my Pre-built Desktop ?"  I bought an HP Desktop M01-F0016 from Office Depot/Office Max back last November and it has a 2 -year warranty under Squaretrade Protection.  This PC, has a Ryzen 5 3400 G Mobile with Radeon(TM) RX Vega 11 Graphics. There is a spot on the motherboard where I can install another GPU. However, the PSU is an 180W(80 Plus Gold) . I can't upgrade the power supply because that would void my warranty. Also the motherboard can't support a 300W or greater PSU because it's not the right type. It doesn't have any 6-pin connector slots or any 24-pin connector slots.  I got responses from HP experts Banhein and Paul_Tikkanen . Bahein, gave me a link to the GPU Benchmarks and Hierarchy list and told me that, "You can use cards which run at 20W-30W."  The only card I saw within that wattage range was the  Nvidia GeForce GT1030.  Paul_Tikkanen said,"That would be the best one you can install that would work with a 180W power supply. You could opt for the less powerful GT 710, which only draws 19W of power..." Here's my experience with the  Nvidia GeForce GT1030 (MSI brand) , the card performed very similar to the my integrated graphics card. Performance wise , I couldn't tell much of a difference until I started playing some light gaming pc games and started comparing FPS. Both cards performed about the same, but my intergraded GPU performed better than the  Nvidia GeForce GT1030.

sounds like another ready fire aim purchase.....................................compact, AIO, or SFF/mini atx systems are known for poor upgradeability but let's see if anything exists is available for upgrading

system specs

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-desktop-pc-m01-f0000a/38096274/model/31128015/document/c0645...

the stock system is actually one of the better systems spec wise (but unfortunately that's not saying much video wise)

the specs say you have one x16 pci-e slot so the only limiting issue is the  non standard 180 watt power supply

your first option is to use a nvidia 1050 card, which should work fine if you remove the optical drive and don't install a second hard drive as removing these items increases your available power to the video card

the second option: (You have the L08660-800 180W supply)

HP has a  400 watt power supply, Part number-L04618-800 SFF PSU that should be compatible

you might want to email user "WB2001"  as he maintains a HP power supply list and see if he can confirm it's compatible

I already have a second hard drive installed so the nvidia 1050 card is out of the question.

HP Expert Wb2001 was last online 3/5/21 . Is there anyone else that could confirm whether or not that PSU works with my motherboard ?

do the work yourself

hp partsurfer (using the part number i provided, and researching which hp systems came with the erica2 motherboard , and what power supplies are two good places to start not to mention calling HP support with the part number is worthwhile

Hello
grr, it doesn't feel good to read this, and I don't know how to say it ..
But simply, unfortunately this dear @wb2001  has left us following a dirty naughty disease ...
Is this what you have consulted?

Power Supply Cross Reference for specific models

having said that, I don't understand, you had already asked what you could install, but did you share the why ? ?
It is obvious that some graphics cards are not suitable for certain uses
A gtx 1050 is already the minimum, to be able to play a lot of games

maybe you could have been better advise

Depending on what will be possible, make a choice, waste time with this computer, if there is not much you can do about it!

Where to get rid of it in order to move on to something more suitable

a small precision
You will only lose the warranty if you damage the computer following any replacement.
So even if you just change the graphics card for example, and you have damaged the computer, indeed hp can refuse it.
So nothing prevents you from replacing something else more
All you need to know is that in the event of a problem, you must replace all the original elements.
And that the problem should not be because you broke something, during the operation, or as a result of it.
Say for example, you make a mistake by changing the power supply and because of that you burn out the motherboard, so there the warranty could be void.

also, replacing the HP power supply with a different HP supply will not void your warranty in most countries just like adding different 3rd party ram or 3rd party hard drives does not invalidate a warranty

Yes, that's what I'm saying, as long as you don't damage the computer
You have some indications here
