Hi there,

I’m writing to report a recurring issue with my HP Omen 25L GT15-1000i desktop with i5-13400F, RTX 3600, and 8B1D-11 motherboard. The system consistently crashes when both the CPU and GPU are under heavy load. I’ve conducted extensive troubleshooting, and I suspect a power delivery issue from the included power supply (D20-500P1B, 500W).

Here is a brief summary of what I’ve done so far:

  • The system freezes during combined CPU and GPU load testing, with no blue screen or logged errors—indicating a sudden shutdown or hardware-level failure. No record can be found right before the crash in the event viewer after the reboot.

  • I've reset the memory configuration to default with XMP disabled but the issue persisted. I ran 4 rounds of MemTest86 and passed with no error.
  • I ran stress tests using OCCT. The CPU-only test ran successfully for 10 minutes, with peak power around 125W and temperatures below 80°C. The GPU-only test also passed (FurMark).

  • However, when running OCCT’s combined CPU+GPU test, the system crashes within the first minute, even with temperatures and voltages in normal ranges.

  • I’ve tested the system both via a surge protector (Monster, 1875W rated) and directly connected to the wall. The result was the same.

  • Power mode was tested in both “Best Performance” and “Balanced.” The crash behavior persisted.

  • +12V rail remained within acceptable voltage range (min 12.151V, max 12.270V), yet the system still failed under combined load.

Given these findings, I suspect the 500W PSU may not be able to sustain stable output under full load, despite its rated specs. I’d like to ask if this is a known issue, and whether HP recommends replacing the PSU or offers support for an upgraded unit.

I am happy to provide further logs or diagnostics if needed. Thank you for your time and assistance.

You were wise to set the RAM to standard JEDEC speed and timings.

 

I would think the power supply needs replacing. But it's also possible this could be caused by a MB power rail problem or a component problem.

 

Have you used the Intel Processor Diagnostics Tool to verify the CPU is okay?

 

HP should replace the power supply if your PC is in warranty.

 

EDIT: Per Tech Powerup, the 3060 can work with a 450 watt power supply.

Thank you so much for your comments. I did pass the Intel Processor Diagnostics Tool tests. 

 

This device is almost 2 years old so maybe its functionality already degraded and no longer meets the needs. I'll start with a changing PSU. If that does not work out, I will look into the MB.
