Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a factory refurbished omen 25L. Serial Number - [Personal Information Removed]

Regardless of HP website not recognizing the SN as a valid SN. Even with HP support assistant doing its run.

GPU - GTX 3070 8gb

CPU - Ryzen 5 3500

MEMORY - 32gb x2 - Dual Channel

MOTHERBOARD - HP 87C3

OS - Windows 10

I have a GTX 3070 with a Ryzen 5 3500. And i notice that the 3500 cannot fully support the 3070. The 3500 heats up quick as the 3070 remains cool even when overclocking.

Im looking to upgrade my CPU to any Ryzen 9. But i need to know if the Ryzen 9's are compatible with my 87C3 motherboard.

Thanks Guys.

From system information it says - System Model OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx

Why is the H7C3 only compatible with intel upgrades? When i have a ryzen?

The reason why im looking for a ryzen 9 is because it far outpaces any intel, by most efficiently using all its cores.

Can i upgrade to a ryzen 9 supporting motherboard?

Thanks man.

The Intel info is from the example (   OMEN 25L GT12-0197c) that @banhien  used and does not apply to your PC.  The model number needs to be more complete than what is posted.

OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx  where the xxx's are numbers.  Then the correct info can be given

I mean thats all it says. And i know the example doesnt apply, but if there is anything else i can provide that can further identify which exact model it is, then please let me know. 🙂

Thanks

EDIT: I looked under the pc and saw GT12-0240M

Unfortunately, the AMD information is not present.  All I found was a motherboard for the Intel CPU's.

So unless @banhien  has some additional info that he can help, but I cannot find an answer to your question.

@IbrahimMusic,

The requested information is readily available online: yes, the AMD Ryzen 9 3900 12-Core and the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processors ARE compatible with your HP 87C3 motherboard.

You want real-life User examples?  -Here you go (Ryzen 9): HP OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx Performance Results - UserBenchmark and (Ryzen 7):  HP OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

Thankyou for all the answers.

But yes. If @banhien can solidify the answer then that would be spectacular.

Because i have 2 answers which though seem very plausible. Are too opposite for me to make a final decision and have an accepted solution.

Ive seen here that @Old_geekster mentioned that the ryzen 7 works fine.

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildmeapc/comments/hvwnlu/i_need_recommendations_on_possible_upgrades_for/

Here someone already customized their pc with the ryzen 7.

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/ll6f9l/prebuilt_hp_omen_25l_gaming_desktop_amd_ryzen...

Here the ryzen 7 same as before.

But one thing, is that most people say that it works fine. The chips run hot. That is why im still inquiring on the ryzen 9. And to hopefully pair that with a suitable cooler.

Thanks
