Hi Guys
I have a Omen 880 with 9700k
in BIOS, it do not have any option to change the CPU multiplier
in CPU-Z the processor name show it is 9700T and in win11 Task Manager, Base Speed is 2.0GHz only
SSID 8437 , I have upgraded to latest F55 Bios already...
Please advise....
Thanks!
Best Regards,
Joe 🙂

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Verified: your OMEN by HP 880-111hk Desktop PC (4YT61AA) according to: https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06224423, is fitted with HP Tampa2 motherboard with SSID: 8437.
It looks like you do not have an i7-9700K, but somehow got shafted with the much cheaper/under-performing i7-9700T...
There is quite a bit of difference between the two processors, not in the least that the "T" version does not have an unlocked processor multiplier, see:
1.) https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-9700T-vs-Intel-Core-i7-9700K/m769194vs4030
2.) https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-Core-i7-9700T-vs-Intel-Core-i7-9700K/3506vs3335
Type in: device manager in your Windows search bar, left-click on Device Manager, then left click on the ">" symbol to the left of "Processors", and you should see something like this (using my HP Z-book as an example):
Btw, the reason I used the word "shafted" is that when you scroll through UserBenchMark [dot] com's "HP System
OMEN by HP Desktop PC 880-p1xx" benchmarks, you won't find any SSID 8437 gaming desktops fitted with an i7-9700T: UserBenchmark: HP OMEN by HP Desktop PC 880-p1xx Compatible Components.
Hope this was helpful.

Hello
namely that for many motherboards, there will be no options available for the overclock
- TDP: up to 95 W
- Socket type: LGA 1151
- Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:ProcessorTDPIntegrated GraphicsIntel Core i7-9700K (Coffee Lake R) 3.6 GHz, Octa Core95 WIntel UHD Graphics 630Intel Core i7-8700K (Coffee Lake) 3.7 GHz, Hexa Core95 WIntel UHD Graphics 630Intel Core i7-8700 (Coffee Lake) 3.2 GHz, Hexa Core65 WIntel UHD Graphics 630Intel Core i7-8600K (Coffee Lake) 3.7 GHz, Hexa Core95 WIntel UHD Graphics 630Intel Core i5-8400 (Coffee Lake) 2.8 GHz, Hexa Core65 WIntel UHD Graphics 630
either an error somewhere, or you bought the computer used?

it does not look like a 9700T
All core stress test turbo boost can up to 4.6Ghz
and other than CPU-Z, all other app and physical which show it is a 9700K
It have some issue in base CPU clock which running at 2.0 Ghz so CPU-Z believe it is a 9700T instead.
I believe it have some issue in BIOS or CPU problem.
that's why I hope any one using the same model can take a look in their system and send me a photo here....

Yes, it is used..... I have attached some new photo above. seems it is not a 9700T, it should be a 9700K as physical show on CPU surface show it is 9700K and using all other tools which can show it is a 9700K
Turbo Boost all core can run up to 4.6Ghz too,
Just can't understand why base cpu speed running at 2.0ghz only, I believe it is the reason effect cpu-z result.
hope other same machine users can take a look in their system 🙂

device manager also show it is a 9700K too....
the problem should be the base speed only 2.0ghz, it confused CPU-Z
all other app show it is a 9700K and turbo boost can up to 4.6ghz all core which 9700T can't perform at this speed.
It think somehow it should have problem in BIOS or CPU....
I try update again the BIOS but it seems HP not allow BIOS update again with same version and not able to downgrade BIOS as well.........

What did the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool show as the measured frequency (using my HP Z-book as an example) for your processor?

Please be advised that CPU-Z and GPU-Z are very reliable programs, and often used by techies to screen out counterfeit CPUs and graphic cards.
[EDIT:] I once purchased a counterfeit GTX 1050 Ti graphics card that according to Device Manager appeared to be what it was labeled, only to find out shortly thereafter -starting with GPU-Z, that it was indeed fake. I removed the heatsink and looked at the graphics processor and found that it actually contained the cheapo GF116-400-A1 graphics processor (GTX 550 Ti), and not the GP107-400-A1 chip:
Got my money back, but this experience made me even more suspicious than I already was.

If you are so inclined to further check out your processor's specs using Command Prompt, type in: cmd in your Windows search bar, right-click on: Command Prompt App, then left-click on: Run as administrator, and left-click on: Yes.
Then type in or copy/paste and enter:
wmic cpu list full
You should see something like this -using my HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF as an example:
What you want to check are these: "CurrentClockSpeed", "MaxClockSpeed", and "Name".
Please check and report back, if you want.
