Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I don't use my dvd writer very often but discovered that it was not working. It is internal to the PC. When I load a disc I do not get a 'what to do' box. The drive appears in devices and troubleshooting shows no errors or messages and says it is working properly. When I try to burn a file, it keeps saying to load a disc. I have tried all the recommendations in virtual help. Device appears in devices, checked wiring, eliminated the upper and lower filters, uninstalled and reinstalled and checked the BIOS. It was working since I changed to Windows 10, but again I don't know when it stopped working.

I have encountered the very same in the past.

DVD burners do stop working. Fortunately, a new replacement DVD burner is cheap and easy to install.

It is your choice, but personally, I wouldn't wast the money.

I keep a portable DVD burner around for the rare instance when I need one.

I did not even install an optical drive in my last  Gaming PC  ROG ASUS build.

Virtually everyone uses USB flash drives now.

I did not get any solutions, so I purchased a stand alone writer.
