Hello everyone,

For some reason my laptop battery refuses to charge my laptop whenever It's on and I get the HP message saying the adapter can't keep up with the high performance even though it was the original charger and used to work the first few months when I had the laptop. I have replaced the laptop battery and did all the updates but it refuses to charge when on and I really need it to constantly be charging since I have back to back classes online.

Please help and thank you.

I went through this with my Surface Pro 4.  You will need to calibrate the battery no matter who makes the laptop.

It is recommended the calibration be performed ever 2-3 months which is a lot of trouble but worth it if the battery is glued behind the display.

Hello,

Thank you for trying to help but that was not the solution. I keep getting this message from HP that says I need a better charger but no matter what I try it still doesn't work.

There may be a battery and / or charging problem

Please run the battery report and post  the summery

you run the battery report by bringing up the administrator command windows "cmd" and running

powercfg/batteryreport as shown below

After entering that explorer line you should see something like the following.  You will have to click on it as it is long

https://stateson.net/docs/SP4_battery-report.html

I just want to look at the  "installed battery" summery to identify the battery

You can use the WindowsKey + shift + S to copy and past a small image.

The report I link above will show a battery replaced about 24 December 2021

If your report looks strange like something is wrong "Always full" or "Always Empty" please find a place to save it and provide the location.  If message work here you can PM me.

Hello again,

I followed the steps you recommended and I got to this part and was unsure of how to proceed after you have seen it?

Thank you.Screenshot 2022-02-14 055955.png

You have a genuine battery I've noticed it has never discharged which is suspicious. it could be defective you may have to try another battery however try the following first
