Hello,
I have in mind to buy a HP ProLiant G6 Server SE316M1. Prices are really cheap on some merchands.
I seen on some benchmark that it was possible to overlock Xeon E5645 2.40 Ghz.
Of course I need stability, but I hope to speed up to 2.80Ghz both CPU.
I don't think it is possible, but I prefer to ask to the community.
Thank you very much.

Hi:
Here is the BIOS setup manual for the prospective server you want to purchase.
http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c00191707-19.pdf
I typed in the word 'overclock' in the search window and nothing came up.
Here is the main support page for the server...
http://h20565.www2.hpe.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/psi/home/?sp4ts.oid=3884343
While I have not read the entire manual, nor do I know much about HP servers, I do have a fair amount of knowledge in general regarding HP business desktops and notebooks, and I can tell you that none of them offer overclocking options for the processor, graphics, or memory.
I would have to assume that since HP has to provide warranty support for at least a year on most of these products (mine all had 3 year warranties), it would not be in their best interests to provide for overclocking options in their PC's because we end users could fry components due to overclocking, and then file claims under the warranty.

Please include if it is a DL160, DL180 or DL380???
You will have many CPU options that you would not need to OVERCLOCK.

Thank you Provost.
It is a DL160SE.
You can find full details at : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-ProLiant-G6-Server-SE316M1-Twin-Hex-Core-Intel-Xeon-E5645-2-40GHz-48GB-...

Yes you can OVERCLOCK from 3.4GHz to 4.0GHz.
This is one of the best sites for OVERCLOCKING.

Thank you for all these infos. You really helped me.
Just a question question : do you know if the overclocking is available only using bios options?
There is nothing to do on the physical motherboard?
I will try to find a tutorial about that.
Thanks

There are no BIOS settings that you will need to change.
There are no onboard settings/adjustments you will need to do.
What @Paul_Tikkanen did not inform you of is it is all software based and can be OVERCLOCKED.
http://www.evga.com/precision/
You can do both GPU and CPU OVERCLOCKING.
As this link stated for the Intel Xeon e5645.
http://www.overclock.net/t/1032640/is-3-4-ghz-attainable-on-a-intel-xeon-e5645
So the real solution to your post is that it can be OVERCLOCKED.
