HP Pavilion Power Desktop 580-1xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I would like to upgrade my pc from 8gb of RAM to 16gb of RAM. When I go onto the HP support assistant it tells me my computer model is the HP Pavilion Power Desktop 580-1xx. When I search through the (580 series) manuals on the HP website I ( find a manual with a pc that looks similar to mine and it tells me that computers with an intel 6th gen  must use udimm memory with a maximum capacity of 16gb, my PC runs on an intel i5-8400. But, when I copy and paste the product number from the HP support assistant into google it tells me I have a 580-100na, which also has the same parts as this one. When I see people on YouTube upgrading their 580-023w they use regular RAM (i.e.  Crucial Ballistix 2400mhz DDR4 DRAM). Lastly, when I search up HP Pavilion Power Desktop 580-1xx a website called memoryamerica.com says that the only compatible RAM upgrade with the 580-1xx is the RAM model HMA81GU6AFR8N-UH 8GB DDR4 (udimm). I would like to know can I buy a kit of 16gb RAM and install it or do I have to just add one stick of the HMA81GU6AFR8N-UH 8GB DDR4 RAM?

Thank you

Hello
when you mention and look for the reference
Power Desktop 580-1xx
you are looking for a type of computer, a series, not a precise model

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-power-580-100-desktop-pc-series/17142197/product-in...

So there could be different motherboard, and possibility of upgrading

If your reference is 580-100na you have this motherboard

Tampa2 motherboard specifications.

memory

8 GB

  • Amount: 8 GB
  • Speed: PC4-19200 MB/s
  • Type: DDR4-2400

Memory upgrade information

  • Dual channel (2 DIMMs per channel) memory architecture
  • Four DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets
  • Supports PC4-19200 (DDR4-2400)
  • Supports 4 GB and 8 GB DDR4 UDIMMs
  • Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
    note:
32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
  • Supports up to 32 GB (unbuffered) on 64-bit computers

this being hp gave different possibilities for this same motherboard

if you wish to use another frequency, and if possible, you will have to replace the original module (if it has the frequency indicated above)

  • Dual channel (2 DIMMs per channel) memory architecture
  • Four DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets
  • Supports PC4-21300 (DDR4-2666) and PC4-19200 (DDR4-2400)
  • Supports 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB DDR4 UDIMMs

When i run the scan it can not find my pc although that might be because i have upgraded the storage. It says that it cannot find a matching PC on their database. But, when i type in the PC I get from pasting in the product number from the support asisstant (580-100na) it tells me literally any RAM is compatible, uDIMM or not.
