Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I've recently swapped out my Ryzen 5 pro 2600 with a Ryzen 7 2700X in my HP Elitedesk 705 G4 MT, and now I'm getting 3 long 2 short beeps when I try to power it on. The fans power on but there's no display, and based on the beeping pattern, I'm told there's a problem with the ram. I haven't changed my ram configuration (two 16gb DDR4 UDIMM sticks) prior to the CPU installation. I've cleaned, reseated, and powered on my pc with one ram stick in to see if it would work but nothing has changed. Is there a way to fix this?

@Seba_1738,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

First of all, a Ryzen 7 2700X is compatible with your HP EliteDesk 705 G4 MT, such as shown by this User: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/58714988.

Secondly, the beep code you referenced indicates a memory (RAM) issue.

See if you can update your BIOS: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-elitedesk-705-g4-microtower-pc/21351257.

Try booting with only one stick installed in each slot to isolate a possible faulty RAM module.

If possible, test the RAM stick(s) in another computer to see if it's the RAM or the motherboard.

If the problem persists, for whatever reason, one or both RAM module(s) might be faulty and need replacement.

Another angle is to remove the Ryzen 7 2700X, and carefully inspect the processor and CPU socket for any damage or debris.

Kind Regards,
