PCI Parallel Port driver update for Windows 11 Pro

Hi

I have recently upgraded to Windows 11 on an old spec HP computer. I wish to run an old vinyl cutter via the parallel port but there seems to be an issue with having no update for a driver?

The Hardware ID of the parallel port is:

PCI\VEN_1415&DEV_C110&SUBSYS_C1101415&REV_00

I'm hoping someone can provide a link or support to a possible fix for me.

Hi, Mike:

The device only has driver support for up to Windows Vista.

This reputable 3rd party driver site has the driver you need for your PCI parallel port:

Manhattan 158169 Serial PCI Express Card drivers

I used the free 7-Zip file utility and explored the file contents of the driver.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file that shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted:

Hi, Mike:

Yes there is a way you can try manually installing the driver so you bypass the OS version check.

Download the free 7-Zip file utility from the link below.

The first file on the page is for 64 bit.

7-Zip

After you install 7-Zip right click on the driver zip file you downloaded from the Driverscollection link I posted.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name.

Open that folder and you will see the Setup.exe file in the folder.

Right click on that file and select 7-Zip from the list of item on the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name.

It will notify you about the destination folder already having the file.

Click Yes to all.

Now the setup file will show the driver files you can manually install as follows:

Go to the device manager.

Click on the PCI\VEN_1415&DEV_C110 device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the Setup driver folder that 7-Zip created.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and hopefully, the driver will install that way.

I would have done the work for you but the forum is having technical difficulties with latency and it also appears it won't let me attach any files that I normally do in situations like this as long as the file is less than 5 MB.

Thanks for persevering.

I managed to install 7 zip and extracted the files to the destination folder. 

I then went to Device manager and did as instructed but it tells me that it cant find the driver?

You're very welcome.

I was able to find an updated driver on the manufacturer's website.

First one on the list under the Drivers and Downloads section at the top of the webpage.

Newer version available PEX1P2: 1 Port PCI Express Dual Profile Parallel Adapter Card - SPP/EPP/ECP

Unzip the file and manually install the driver from the Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 folder.
