HP Compaq 8000 Elite Small Form Factor PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm using an HP Compaq 8000 Elite Base Model Small Form Factor Desktop PC.

In the past the PCI Serial port worked OK, even with Windows 10.

After one of the recent Windows 10 updates (now using (21H1), the driver on the PCI Serial Port is missing.

the message is:

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There are no compatible drivers for this device.

When searching for a driver Windows says: Windows could not find drivers for your device."

In 2017 a solution was given in  td-p/6286610  suggesting to use http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45367.exe

Probably this solution isn't valid anymore because when trying to open the file sp45367.exe  I get the following message:

PCI_Driver.png

The Hardware Ins. are:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E17&SUBSYS_3646103C&REV_03
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E17&SUBSYS_3646103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E17&CC_070002
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E17&CC_0700

Any ideas for a solution ?

Hi:

If you are having trouble downloading the file, use this link...

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45367.exe

Install the free 7-zip file utility.  The 1st file is for 64 bit;

7-Zip

Right click on the sp45367 driver you tried to run, and select 7-zip from the list of items on the menu.

Have 7-Zip "Extract to:' and let it extract the exe file into its folder name (sp45367).

Once that is done...

What you need to do is to manually install the driver.

Go to the device manager.  Click on the PCI Serial Port needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option, and browse to the driver folder that was created by 7-zip.

Make sure that the include subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
