Would like a recommendation for a pci e USB expansion board and if it requires a power cable for operation.

@LEW1950 -- All PCI-e devices draw power through the PCI-e slot. The only exception is a high-end video-card, which may have an additional 4-pin, 6-pin, or even 8-pin socket for additional power.

 

Any PCI-e "X1" adapter card should work, to add more USB sockets.
