H8-1224
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

It’s an hp-pavilion the 1224

comes with the Angelica rev 1.2 (latest bios 7.16)

10gb of ram

fx-8100

radeon 7570 (1gb)

upgraded the power supply for 650w cooler master 80+ bronze tried a rog strix rtx 2060 (6gb) but it would stop at the hp splash screen just to have any button press and go to the hardware specifications but not giving you any response or menu for boot options, the peripherals light up and everything.

so I saw another post from two years ago and @Jeet_singh said that the latest card was a Radeon 7950, I was able to get a used 7950 off eBay, I try to plug it in and boot but the pc won’t boot, nothing lights up, fans spin but that’s it, not even at full speed too, they just spin.

I’ve tried everything to get it working, I’ve reinstalled the bios twice, reset the cmos and used the jumpers several times, I’ve tried turning off everything in settings and even tried dissabling and re-enabling the pci-port which I then had to reset my cmos again to get it to display with the original 7570

I just want to know if the card would work with the system and to stop wasting my time or if it worked just on a older bios and that’s all I need to do, I have updated it to windows 10 and I’m not sure if that could have been the problem, I did try at one point disabling plug and play that also didn’t work, I can’t exactly go back to windows 7 and I tried to go back to an older bios but I’ve searched the internet and couldn’t find a older version. Please help

To make a long story short, the BIOS on the motherboard does not accept the newer graphics card.  There are many posts on the HP threads concerning that topic.  Here is a post that gives the best solution to the situation,

The other solution is to buy an older card that was made to use a legacy BIOS and that still meets your needs.

Thankyou, I thought so, I’ve seen the thread before, as many others, I tried to see if the card was legacy bios but no where states either that or eufi, so I think I’m just going to Save up for the new build I was going to do anyways, thank you for the help

Back when the newer cards that required the  UEFI BIOS first came out, there were some cards that had a switch where it could work in either type of system.  It has been quite some time since I saw that discussed, but it seems they were of the GeForoce 750 series cards.  If you are interested in that approach, then do a search for that type card.  Once you find a make and model, then trying to find them is going to be a challenge.  Of course, the source for them now would probably be EBay, most likely.
