Hi @BenPc1

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP PC is experiencing some issues during the startup and login process. There are several potential reasons for this problem, and here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. If your computer is responsive, try restarting it and see if the problem persists.
  • Boot into Safe Mode: Boot your computer into Safe Mode to see if it loads properly. Safe Mode loads the operating system with minimal drivers and services, which can help identify if a third-party application or driver is causing the issue.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up-to-date with the latest updates and patches. Windows updates often include bug fixes that can address performance issues.
  • Scan for Malware: Run a full system scan for malware and viruses. Malicious software can cause system slowdowns and other issues.
  • Check Disk for Errors: Use the built-in Windows Check Disk utility to scan and fix file system errors. Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and type chkdsk /f then press Enter. Follow the on-screen instructions to schedule the check for the next restart.
  • Update Drivers: Ensure that your graphics card, network adapter, and other essential drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the official HP website.
  • System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a previous state using System Restore. This will undo system changes without affecting your personal files.
  • Check for Disk Space: Ensure that your system drive has enough free space. Running out of disk space can lead to performance issues.
  • User Profile Corruption: It's possible that your user profile is corrupted. You can try creating a new user account and see if the issue persists when logging into the new account.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Run hardware diagnostics to check for any hardware issues. HP computers often come with built-in diagnostics tools that you can access during the boot process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
