The keyboard and mouse delivered with HP ENVY Curved All-in-One PC 34 are small, difficult to read and in general not what I would expect from a PC that costs as much as this one does. Now the mouse will not move the cursor although the keyboard still works. The receiver/dongle is apparently buried inside the all in one and my PC person says he does not want to run the risk of tearing into it to replace it. Are there replacement boards and mouse units available for purchase that will not requirement that I tear into the PC? Can I use another mouse and keyboard with the internal mouse/keyboard receiver that came with this PC? Can I just use a second receiver through a usb port to run another keyboard and mouse with removing the factory installed receiver?

Have you ever replaced the batteries in the mouse? See here. The dongle is under the motherboard, on a wired lead. Total tear-down. The installed dongle part of the keyboard and mouse pair. Just replace the whole step-up if that is your desire. The new dongle will not interfere with the old dongle.

the first thing I tried was installing new batteries that I checked to be sure they were good. Did not solve the problem. The mouse seems to just be dead. The mouse and keyboard are paired to the installed, buried dongle and if either the keyboard or mouse die the only choice is to tie up one of the usb ports and install an external dongle keyboard and mouse? If so, a pretty poor design by HP!!!!!!
