I have added a second HDD to my new Omen. There are all the tools to do so (HDD carriage and bay) There's even a data cable that allows two drives to be fitted and connected...the issue is there is only 1 SATA1 power cable to the one standard drive, so the box only allows for 1 drive to be powered. I have never had a PC with such a lack of additional power plugs.
Has anyone had the same problem. There is a strange 6 square plug clipped to the HD bays and a 2 pin square next to it. This looks like a board powering plug, but there may be a connector to give addtional SATA1 ends.
Any advice or comments please

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
What you need is a SATA power cable Y-adapter -- which plugs into one of the SATA power leads and then has two of its own.
An example looks like this: http://www.microcenter.com/product/325323/6_SATA_Power_Y_Splitter_Cable
Good Luck

Ahhhah!! You were right - there is a second power connector for the drive. I'm learning....the cable is a data cable and I've found a vacant socket for it. Thanks for your help.
Great responses and response time. Much appreciated.
Great forum also 🙂
