This will not fit physically unless you do a case mod to allow the larger power supply to fit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUCyJ3Wz7O0

I think there are adapters for powering the motherboard and avoid the wiring change shown in the link above.

Here is a list of compatible power supplies for 590x models

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

unfortunately your model has no optional power supply

I assume you want to add a gaming graphics board such as rtx-3080

You might find a gaming combo with that graphics board may be less expensive than adapting your existing system.  The rtx3080 that is part of a combo can be factory modded to prevent mining which usually makes the rtx  much cheaper than a retail board capable of mining.

@ralpro,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion 590-p0044 Desktop PC (3LA79AA) according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06001583 and: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05939208, is fitted with a "Sunflower" motherboard (SSID: 8433) and is powered by a 180 watt proprietary OEM HP power supply: p/n: L08660-800 ("Power Supply - GNRC PSU 180W Entl18 SFF FR Gold").

To cut to the chase: you cannot plug in an ATX EVGA 600 watt (100-W1-0600-K1) power supply onto your Sunflower motherboard.   I assume you need a 600 watt power supply because you would like to install a decent -hence more power-demanding graphics card.

The only way to make an industry standard ATX PSU to power your desktop is to use an "ATX PSU ADAPTER ATX 24-Pin to SATA Power Supply Adapter" as I have done, for example, on an HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF upgrade project as seen here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/Upgrading-HP-Elite....

DISCLAIMER: This power conversion/adaptation method is NOT endorsed, approved, let alone recommended by HP.  If you were to apply this alternative power method, you would forfeit any desktop warranty, if you have it.  You would also assume sole responsibility if you were to apply this power method.

Since this power conversion method requires a significant measure of computer-savviness, I would not recommend it for the mechanically DIY impaired, so to speak.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

I purchased a Radeon rRX580, and I purchased a L69242-800 power supply.

@ralpro,

Your RX 580 requires an 8-pin PCIe power connector, which the 400 watt  PSU you purchased has. Please check what the minimum power supply for your RX 580 is. Also, make sure that the power supply you bought is actually compatible with your Sunflower motherboard.

Kind Regards,
