Pre-purchase question about Optane

Hi,

I am considering HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop - TG01-0160xt.

If I get the 1 TB Intel® SSD 32 GB Intel® Optane™ memory as my primary storage, this means I can not add additional secondary storage. True? From the configurator that seems to be the case.

I'm wondering whether to get 1TB (or even 512GB) SSD without Octane and then add a secondary HDD. Wouldn't SSD be faster than a HDD with Octane?

Is the 32 GB of Intel Optane memory in addition to the primary memory (DDR4 SDRAM)?

 You somewhat confused about terminology !

An Optane SSD is linked to the OS hard drive.  It is not memory in the true sense, but an advanced cache for the hard drive. This link explains how it operates. It works in conjunction with the data access.

Now about additional hard drives.

As stated in this language "1 TB Intel® SSD + 32 GB Intel® Optane™ memory", that is actually misleading.

It really means a 1TB SSD drive (2.5" design and a 32GB Optane module (M.2 SSD 2280 form).

The video (link below) will explain the mounting of storage devices.  The power lead to the 1TB drive will have a second power plug tucked under the panel.  You will need a 10" SATA3 data cable.
