Problems: graphic cars upgrade - msi Geforce GTX 970

I've tried everything on the startup menu - disabling and enabling EUFI/Legacy and so forth.

But one of my acquaintances suggested that I should try a new motherboard that allows the GTX 970 to run.

I guess that's the source of the problem because my power supply produces 1000 Watts which is sufficient enough and the amperes match and everything else in my pc seems to fit with the new graphic card.

I'll give a heads up if a new motherboard is the right solution to the problem.

You are welcome to tell me more if there is anything further to add to the solution to my problem. Downgrading the graphic card is not what i intend to do.

Hi,

If your intent is to keep the graphics card then you need a new motherboard or a new PC. I have changed motherboards with the same manufacturer and some versions of Windows did activate and  with others I had to go through the phone activation process.  Since your are using a OEM license which is tied to a specific motherboard you will most likely need a new Windows license.  The HP recovery media will not work on a different motherboard.  I would recommend that you consider a new PC that has a motherboard with the better and higher performing technology to handle the performance requirements of the NVIDIA GTX 970.

ok thanks, and if i do not want to buy an entirely new pc and throw my old one out (costing 7.500 kr. =1.278 US$ at the time i bought it)
am i not able to buy a new mother board and upgrade to windows 8 (I have windows 7 at this moment)?
or will i still have a problem with HP recovery media?

I run a computer upgrade and repair company. I had tried a GTX970 and a GTX1070 in a HP Pavilion p6-2120 using a 750 Watt EVGA gaming power supply with a single 12V rail (12 amps).and the PC hangs on the Blue screen with the HP logo like someone else commented they had the same problem. I downloaded the newest BIOS release and then it worked. The BIOS release did not state that it fixed any sore of incompatibilities but did state it fixed some security issues. If you have this problem then pull out the new video card, Download the newest BIOS update from HP and run it, After flashing your motherboard BIOS try installing the GTX970 or GTX1070 again. It worked for me. Hope this helps!

One of the questions was if a GTX970 would work in any HP computer. That is why I commented. I am sure my comment will help many people reading this forum.
