@Livez,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

I do agree that the "generic" 65-watt TDP CPU heatsink/cooling fan combo is not as robust as it could be:

Interestingly, this CPU heatsink (p/n: 863480-001 "Heatsink - Gen, 65W, ENT16 MT") is also found to cool 8th-gen Intel processors in the HP ProDesk 400 G5 Micro Tower.

Now, a CPU heatsink upgrade option for your desktop, in my opinion, would be this one with p/n: 810281-001:

You can see one for sale via eBay (US: if interested, you may want to find one closer to home): https://www.ebay.com/itm/234899836583?epid=18026604713&hash=item36b11f0ea7:g:Hj4AAOSwRVReYUNY&amdata....

Even though this CPU heatsink/cooling fan combo is also rated at 65-watt, it cools a lot better than the "generic" version.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for your reply, I need a backplate replacement for the 810281-001 or default one is good?

Also can you tell if there another part number for EU market cause can't find them in EU?

@Livez,

Unfortunately, I looked around for this part in the EU, but to make a long story short:

@Livez,

And by the way, what part are you referring to as the "backplate replacement"?

for the new air cooler i need to replace motherboard backplate?

HP Recommended

@Livez,

If you mean to replace the fan duct for your current CPU heatsink (which wraps around your heatsink):

With HP p/n: 908997-001 "P fan duct ENTL17-SFF", you don't need that with the upgraded heatsink/cooling fan combo.  As a matter of fact, it probably won't fit with the other heatsink anyway, and you certainly don't want it with the 810281-001 heatsink/cooling fan combo.

No i'm speaking about motherboard backplate.

Aslo can you tell if i can put thermal paste with the 810281-001 heatsink, cause it looks like he come with a thermal pad.

@Livez,

You do not need a different motherboard backplate.  I can't think of any reason why you want to change out this part anyway.

You could choose to use the thermal paste as provided with the heatsink, personally, I would clean it off and use my own -better quality thermal paste, such as Arctic MX-4.

Thanks for all you information, i will order the 810281-001 heatsink.

Also do you think it will fit in my Prodesk 400 G4 Micro Tower? cause the  HDD/DVD bracket is very close to the cpu position.
