HP Compaq 8000 Elite Base Model Small Form Factor PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I have two questions

My First Question:
hp compaq 8000 elite sff pc's motherboard as you know hp3646h

and this motherboard does not have q9400 in the processor support list, but a guy on youtube was able to install a q9400 on the same computer.

My second question is:
I heard that xeon x3360 can be installed on my motherboard with q45 chipset and q45 chipset motherboards, can I do it?
and a guy on youtube installed a modded Xeon 5150 on his hp compaq 6000 pro sff computer, the motherboard features are the same as mine.
Can I install modded xeon on my own computer?

My Bios Version is Latest Version and Updated v01.14 Version

Thank you for your help.

If the youtube video shows the same system and you have the same bios there should be no problem.

The latest bios is 1.14 and 2015, The release info for bios 1.09 states quote "Updates the Intel Processor microcode to the latest versions."  That bios was released in 2011 and the q9400 came out in 2008 so it looks like it should work.

The q9400 does not check for errors on the front side bus unlike the q9550 else not much other differences other than speed and cache size.

Can I mount my hp 3646h motherboard in another case?

List of CPUs for your system are on pages 7 and 8.  You best bet is is q9550

There used to be a website that had list of compatible motherboards.  The site no longer exists except on the WayBackMachine

BeemerBiker_0-1688848978175.png

I put two systems together with that 771 => 775 mod.  At the time the xeons were a lot cheaper than the q9550 chips.

The xeons ran hot and it  was a PITA to assemble the mod to the 771 to fit in the 775 socket.

The bios in your elite 8000 will need the microcode for the 3xxx series xeon.  That delidded site showed how to install the missing microcode but you will  have to hunt through that way-back-machine to find it.

The only 1.02 bios I can find is for the 8000f Elite ultra-slim

I suspect that is a different motherboard.

The 8000 elite sff motherboard looks like this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/275046302501

It is not an ATX motherboard as clearly the expansions sockets are on the "wrong" side of the back panel ports.

The motherboard does not use the 20 or 24 pin power connector of the at or atx case.  A special HP power supply is required.
