My HP pavilion desktop 570-p094 came with one 8gb stick of DDR4 RAM that I recently upgraded to 2 sticks of PNY DDR4 RAM. Machine boots up but only shows 8 GBs as useable. This pc comes with the AMD A12 9800 processor. I use Windows 10, 64 bit. Not sure what to do or why only 8GB are recognized. Thanks for your help.

From your brief explanation, might I surmise you bought (2) 8GB modules.
1) Where these certified to work with your system?
2) Does the BIOS register the existence of 2 modules.

Yes, 2 8 GB modules. No, RAM not certified as far as I can tell. No, RAM shows in BIOS as - 8256 MB DDR4/Single Channel.
Unless I am mistaken, when I purchased the PC, specs said memory could be upgraded to 16 GB. Double checked later at the HP website and thought that was confirmed. One 8 GB module came installed when I purchased with an empty RAM slot. Bought 2 paired 8 GB modules with comparable speed. Thanks

It should be reflecting Dual channel memory architecture.
Sorry to ask, but just how did you select these modules? Off the shelf is not an option.
RAM modules are manufactured to work with specific computer models only.
