ProDesk 400 G3 DM
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everybody,

I have a HP ProDesk 400 G3 DM with the following specs:

-i3 7100t

-4Gb 2400 Mhz RAM(Samsung SODIMM)

-500 HDD

I manage to acquire an identical 4Gb stick to insert in the second slot from the motherboard, but it doesn't start even to bios. I'm just getting some beeps from the on-board speaker and a red light on the power button.

Is it possible for the slot to be locked from bios or is just broken?

I have tried the following:

-bottom slot occupied - all good(tried both ram sticks in this slot and they are working, so the ram stick's are ok)

-both slots occupied - error

-only top slot occupied - same error

-cleared cmos( removed battery, pressed the button on the MB) - same error

Thanks.

After reassemle the pc now the top ram slot was working and second one didn't.

After a close inspection on the socket pins I found one bent pin.

I have straighen it a needle and with a bit of luck, succes all 8 GB of RAM detected.

@StefanBI123,

I would unplug the power cord, remove the side panel.

Using a can of compressed air to clean all the dust out, then pay close attention to the RAM slots.

The interior is dust free.

@StefanBI123,

Some of the ways to damage the RAM slot. are having the power cord pulled in while working inside the computer,  or static charge on insertion of the RAM into the slot.
