The Prodesk 600 G3 SFF uses 2133 or 2400 DIMM depending on the CPU memory requirements as shown here

If you put in non HP memory or a different speed memory the system will probably default to 2133 speed.  That difference is probably not noticeable in performance.  Mixing HP and non-HP memory could cause boot failure but you might luck out.  Get memory that can be returned.

I found the following HP memory certified for your SFF system according to PartSurfer (had to look each SFF)

922094-001 8GB, DDR4 PC-2400 MHz memory module

922093-001 4GB, DDR4 PC-2400 MHz memory module

I am guessing that 922095-001 will also work and it is a 16gb DIMM

If you are adding 8gb to a single existing 8gb it is possible the speed of each ram will drop.  Intel considers this normal. Since twice the data is transferred in dual channel mode, you are basically running at almost 2x the speed.  For example,  the i3-7100 has this fine print:

To find out what memory you currently have, enter the following command while in administrator mode

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, capacity, speed, MemoryType, formfactor, partnumber, manufacturer

A 16GB x 1 single can be used instead of 8GB x 2?

If you get a non HP be sure the vendor accepts returns.

Kingston lists some memory for your SFF

What did wmic tool display?
