HP pavilion desktop 570-p017c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Purchased this new HP desktop pc for my wife and noticed is doesn't have a HDD LED activity indecator light. I also read a post on this forum that most recent HP desktops don't have this internal hard drive activity light anymore - is this true?  If so, why in the world would HP stop providing this anymore - I really like to see when my pc is busy writing to the disk.

Me too, but I use the "performance" tab of the Windows Task Manager to show the "percentage-busy", and the Windows Resource Monitor to "drill-down" to see which files are active.

Need to hear from HP Expert on this.

So, I this PC is not suppose to have a enternal hard drive light right?  Or is something broken and causing it not to work?  If this model doesn't have a hard drive light that's fine but I would like that verified.

Thanks

I tried to verify, via:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-570-p000-desktop-pc-series/13823514/model/15789096/...

but none of the "manuals" offer an "exploded-view" of the front bezel.

I tried: http://partsurfer.hp.com/WSearch.aspx?Wchar=Y&searchText=570-p017

and got:

Your search for 570-p017 returned the following results :

Product numbers matching your criteria :

HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p017na  -- Z7C71EA

HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p017nf  -- 1JV48EA, 1JV48EAR

HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p017nt  -- 1JV67EA, 2CC89AA

HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p017no  -- 2CW52EA

I tried: http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?type=PROD&SearchText=Z7C71EA

but, again, did not find any "exploded-view" option.

So, your only recourse is to do a physical inspection -- open-up the case, and look for a 2-wire pair running from a labelled pair of pins ('HDD') on the motherboard to an LED on the "inside" of the front bezel

Your HP Desktop PCs - motherboard specifications, Lubin:

https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05382582

has a "front panel header" (near the top-right of the image on this web-page).

Nothing conclusive, unfortunately for you.
