Hi Experts,

I have a friend with the above-named PC and the SSD that it boots from appears to have died. The PC is no longer under warranty and i need to order a replacment drive. I checked the HP Parts pages and the exact model of the SSD drive that was pre-installed does not appear to be available any longer. Can I replace it with any M2 SSD, or are there specifics i need to look for (other than capacity)? If any other information is needed, I'll gladly supply it. Thank you in advance. 😊

Hi:

You should be able to replace the 256 GB NVMe SSD with any brand NVMe SSD you want.

SATA M.2 SSD's are not supported.

If you want a recommendation, I suggest the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro).

If you want to go with a larger storage capacity, that would be fine too.
