My USB front panel module is broken and I bought a new one.

Can sombody give  me the step by step instructions to replace the USB module. How do I remove it from the front panel?

I have the computer open and the front panel is off!

Thank you!

@Max50,

Here is a step by step process.

Yes your right, the USB nmodule on the top far left has to be removed.

Please let me know how it works out.

Unfortunately the USB front panel module replacement is not described in the previous manual.

Agreed.

But it does show removing that area, DVD drive change, shows removing the modules around it.

I thought that "A" was the item you wanted access to.

Thanks for trying to help. There should be some releases that need to be accessed to remove the USB module. I need to get these releases. If the optical drive removal is precondition once I get there I still have to remove the USB module

Hi

I have reversed engineered quite a few HP desktop. Have not done any recently. The card reader is not permanently attached (riveted). A couple of screws have to be removed but they are not in obvious locations.

You will have to remove the front bezel, CD/DVD, drive and the side panel.

It is not easy to remove the card reader but it can be done.

Can't give you detailed instructions.

Take your time and analyze as you go. The mounting points are there.

You may have to lay the tower on one side. Then look for screws attaching the drive to the side of the chassis. There may be screws attaching the drive to the front of the chassis (located inside of the chassis). Screws may be attached to the CD/DVD bay. Viewable from underneath the CD/DVD enclosure.

There may be additional mount points at the top of the chassis which can be seen when you remove the side panel and the optical drive.
