Hello
I have had hp z820 stations for a long time. I decided to upgrade the processors from e5-2643 to e5-2690v2. After replacing the processors, the computer starts up without making any sounds and at full fan speed.
At first I thought about damaging the motherboard, however, after installing the old processors, everything works correctly. The seller reportedly tested the processors before shipping.
Has anyone already had such a problem or knows the solution?
thanks in advance for your helpful answers

Hi @Bartii80,
That is an interesting problem since the Xeon E5-2690 v2 is compatible with your HP Z820 workstation.
For example, take a look here: HP Z820 Workstation Performance Results - UserBenchmark, which is one of many Z820 builds submitted to UserBenchMark with an E5-2690 v2 on board.
Similar discussions were hosted before on this Forum, perhaps you want to take a look and see if it addresses/solves your Xeon issue: Solved: z820 e5-2600 v2 ivy bridge upgrade - HP Support Community - 5086052
And here: Solved: z820 workstation will not start - HP Support Community - 7901744
Hope this helps!
Kind Regards,
