My HP All-in-one computer started giving me the SMART imminent disk failure message. All disk diagnostics passed but I sometimes got the message. A tech took the computer apart and tried to replace the HDD but my system wouldn't accept it. Tech said it was a mother board problem and too expensive to fix. But the computer is back home now and working fine. So what is my real problem?

Hello
the hard drive is defective
It can continue to operate for a certain time, but it can definitively break down, if it is not already the case!
If possible, save personal data
Try a full reinstall
Be careful even if it works, it may permanently break down, save the data regularly.
This may allow you to use the computer while you find a hard drive!
You can try to help yourself with this tutorial (sorry not fully translated)
