HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-1132nf

Good evening,

My motherboard is an HP Baker 8767, and on the HP website it marks: Two M.2 expansion slots (1 x PCIe x16 and 1 x PCIe x1) One M.2 socket 1, key A One M socket. 2 3, key M, (2280/2242)

I obtained the information in the following thanks to CrystalDiskInfo.

How do I know if SSD is compatible with motherboard knowing that my old SSD was PCIe 3.0 x2 with NVMe 1.2?

My goal is to know if I can install the Corsair SSD MP600 PRO LPX M.2 NVMe PCIe x4 Gen4 1TB? Thanks in advance

Hi, @Alexandor

Your PC's M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3.0.

While a Gen 4.0 SSD will work, it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds.

This chart provides the maximum transfer speeds of the various PCIe generations:

Ok thank you, so it makes more sense to take a gen3 SSD or à sata SSD ?

You're very welcome.

Yes, unless you plan on transferring the Gen 4.0 drive to a newer model PC in the future

I will think about it, thank you.

one last question that just came to my mind, knowing that I bought my PC (which is a pre-installed configuration) in 2020 (with a graphics card released in 2019), and that the Gen.4 SSDs were released in 2017. Won't CrystalDiskInfo just give me the characteristics of the installed SSD and not the characteristics of the SSD port?

Thanks in advance

You're very welcome.

That's correct, but if you look up the specs for your PC motherboard chipset on the Intel site, it will indicate that the PCIe version is Gen 3.0.

If it's not too much to ask, would it be possible for you to send me the link to the Intel site you are referring to?

Below is the link to your PC's motherboard specifications:

It has the Intel H470 chipset.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this intel site, now I know more about my motherboard.

I will open another topic for the compatibility between my motherboard and the RTX 4070 Super.

Good continuation
