Looking to add/upgrade RAM and an SSD to my HP Omen 870-244. I understand it has a Thimphu-K motherboard. For the SSD, can I use the open M.2 slot to install a "stick" based SSD like the WD 500GB M.2-2280, or am I better off with a SATA based option like the Samsung 860 EVO with an adapter cable? Which version will perform better?
Also considering upgrading the RAM from 16GB to 32GB - is it worth it with this motherboard and clock speeds (for gaming)?

Hello
One M.2 socket 3, key M
Logically, the SSD M is faster than a ssd sata ...
It may be more difficult to find a compatible model
but help you with the scan system here:
32gb of memory may not be useful to you

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05380412
1. STORAGE: It has 1TB of HDD now and it has one spare M.2 slot for storage (One M.2 socket 3, key M) on its motherboard. You should be able add M.2 NVMe SSD to your machine using
https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/970-evo-nvme-m2-ssd/MZ-V7E2T0BW/
https://www.crucial.com/products/ssd/crucial-p2-ssd
Or similar from reputable vendors.
It is much better to use M.2 slot and NVMe SSD drive, much faster.
2. RAM: It has 16GB now and supports up to 64GB (from its specs). You can upgrade to 32GB using the following compatible RAM (will run at 2133MHz as from its specs)
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4dfd824a/ct10386647
or https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bls2k16g4d32aese/ct13986016
or https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g26c16u4b/ct16794180
It specs also says it supports 64GB but HP only tested with 32GB
Regards.
