HP OMEN 45L Desktop
Microsoft Windows 11

Set up my new OMEN last week and installed a Sound Blaster Audigy Rx/5 internal sound card. It worked, but then disconnected a few times, requiring me to remove and reinstall the sound card. Today, it disconnected again, but after many attempts to remove/reinstall I cannot get the sound card to work anymore. It still shows up in the Device Manager.

I need it to use my music production software (DAW). What else can I try?

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Did you disable onboard audio in the BIOS after installing the SB audio card?

System Audio should be in the BIOS Device Security submenu located within the main Security menu.

Is Audigy set as the default device in Control Panel, Sound?

Regards

My pleasure.

Let the Forum know how it goes.

Audio should be okay unless you have a flaky SB card.

@Bill_To - Well, the problem now is that the sounds card does not get recognized when the computer comes out of sleep mode, requiring me to remove and reattach. Does that sounds like a flaky card? Bought it in 2017.

This could be a hardware problem with the card.

Or, since the card is around seven years old, it could also be a driver problem.

Are you using SB audio drivers (if available at Creative) or Windows audio drivers?

I am using an older Sound BlasterX AE-5 in my PC. Luckily the SB drivers provided by Creative are working correctly on W10.

Driver is up to date. So it seems like some problem with the hardware ☹️

Yes. it could be the SB card.

If possible, try this card in a different W11 PC or a different W10 PC. Or try a different audio card in the 45L.

Have you checked the 45L HP Support site for a chipset driver update?
