Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to swap my optical drive for an ssd of which i would like to boot my notebook from?

That is not a good option because SSD won't give full speed when put on ODD bay (with adapter) and SSD won't boot from there. My suggestion
(a) Buy a SATA 3 2.5" SSD and adaptere for Optical drive,
(b) Clone HDD to SSD,
(c) Replace HDD with SSD,
(d) Put HDD to adapter and install on ODD bay.
