TPM Code 45 error

Interesting.
AFAIK your motherboard does not have the required TPM.

AMD markets the installed processor as supporting Windows 10, not Windows 11.

Hi Erico, thanks for your reply. Yes, you're right this system was originally designed for Win10 . It wasn't compatible with Win11 because of the processor but it does have a TPM 2.0. Win11 was installed using Rufus and subsequently it is now running 23H2. The BIOS was upgraded to F36 and somewhere along the line I lost the TPM. I have enabled it in BIOS but Windows does not recognise it and in Device Manager I see the Code 45 error telling me it is not connected. I have run various hardware diagnostic tools and checked for driver updates but none of these has any effect.

You can check that the the TPM chip is present and working.

You can also check the TPM Management Console by following the steps below:
  1. Press the Windows + R keys on the keyboard to open a command prompt.
  2. Type tpm. msc and press Enter on the keyboard.
  3. Verify that the status for TPM in the management console shows as Ready

Are you using Bitlocker?

TPM.MSC opens the TPM window but says a compatible TPM cannot be found, Device Manager has a driver for it - 10.0.22621.2506.

I am not using Bitlocker.

Which TPM  chip version is installed?

You can find the specification in the TPM.MSC dialog window.

Did there happen to have been a Windows update just before the issue showed itself?

Not that I was aware of but the BIOS was updated and that is when I noticed the issue.

Thanks for your help Erico. I did find this on the forum

Solved: TPM - HP Support Community - 8285995

so maybe we can assume it is a bug. Either way it doesn't seem to be causing any problems.

Merry Christmas
