Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

The repair manual for this computer says to re-use the old thermal pad when upgrading or changing the M.2 SSD. However, this unit didn't come with an SSD preinstalled, so I don't have one to re-use. The metal bracket that covers the SSD leads me to believe that the thermal pad is a bit important here.

What thickness of thermal pad should be used  for this application? 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5 mm? I can't find this info anywhere.

Hi:

I found a model that has a M.2 SSD, and here is the parts list for that model...

HP PartSurfer

This is probably the thermal pad you need...

L15734-001

Thermal Pad - SSD Bracket, Syrah/Shiraz

Unfortunately the part is not orderable from HP.

No other information is available, and when I googled the part number, I only found this one place that may have it...

That part number is a lot farther than I got.

I'm guessing that since I'm installing a different SSD than the models originally used in these, the thickness is going to depend on the height of the components on the drive itself - you want it snug but not too thick so that it's pressing down on the drive. I guess I'll order a pack with all three various thicknesses and use the best one for the drive.

Thanks for the reply!
