HP All-in-One 21.5" FHD Business Desktop

I don't know what my wife did, but she's getting a looping message:

HP BIOS Update

The System BIOS update failed

Unable to open BIOS image file

Then there's a 15 second countdown until the PC restarts, and a Continue Setup button.

Whether I hit escape, let the timer count down, or hit the button, its the same result, it resets, there's a DOS message for a fraction of a second, and the error screen returns.  Slowing down video of the prompt, it says Press the ESC key for startup menu, but neither mashing esc or trying to carefully time pressing it yields a different result.  Holding Windows+B while restarting does nothing.  Function keys do nothing.  Please advise.

i am working on a 24-df0206a and am having the exact same issue after windows tried to update the bios.

I have tried creating a usb recovery option as per this https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Fix-For-The-F-57-BIOS-Bug-Which-Causes-Windows-10-amp-...

and tried making a bios recovery drive using the hp software, but i cannot make the pc boot from the usb drive.

Absolutely nothing changes the 15 second loop behaviour.

Has this pc been bricked?

Apparently its out of warranty by a few months, and its entry was stripped from Amazon where I purchased it.

I faced a similar problem a few days ago in my Shopify store. You should follow these steps, might be Your computer is stuck in a BIOS update loop.

Try these steps:

Power off the computer.
Disconnect power or the battery.
Reset the BIOS (desktop) or discharge residual power (laptop).
Attempt to access BIOS settings during startup.
Consider booting from a USB with a BIOS update file.
If issues persist, contact HP Support or a service center.

Thanks for the input - yes, tried all that, tried all the key combinations on startup, but i cannot break the bios fail loop that comes up every time it turns on, to get the pc to access any type of recovery drive.

I have a case going with HP support but i'm not holding out much hope of a solution - looks like i now have a nice big (expensive) paperweight! Tried looking online for replacement mobo's but there are none that i can find.

Hey @SubZippo, have you had any resolution? I'm having the exact same thing (posts below) but am not getting very far.

I think you can let your wife off the hook - it was a Windows update of the bios that did it to mine and probably yours too.

I'm am of the belief that if your computer is working, don't touch the bios, but Windows went ahead and did it anyway - maybe we should be asking Microsoft for replacement pc's.
