Pavilion a1320n
Microsoft Windows XP

Hi I tried to upgrade my HP Pavilion a1320n to windows 7 but I had to have a bios update.  This PC is running Windows XP. This PC isn't supported by HP anymore but I was wondering if I could still get the update for it somewhere.

Thanks, Eli-P

Hi I have tried to install the bios update on my pc a few times. It is running windows xp home 32 bit and is activated. Whenever I try to install it it says, "Unable to execute the specified command line!" Is there any way you have a rom file so I can manually do it or any other solutions?

Thank You, Eli P

Hi:

The only way those BIOS files came are as Windows based flash files.

Did you try running the file as administrator?

If you have, and you know the BIOS file is for the motherboard your PC has (it should be), then unfortunately, I have no idea why it isn't working.

HP Recommended

I ran it as administrator. I dont have any other ideas.

Me either.

Why were you required to update the BIOS when you went to install W7?

I looked at the specs for that model and it should be able to run W7 just fine.

HP Recommended

It says it has some kind of issue when you turn on power saving mode. If you open the bios update it tells you more about it. I was able to open the update but not run it.

HP Recommended

Yes, but that was for XP.

W7 may not have that issue, as it has more advanced ACPI controls than XP has.

It's odd that the file doesn't work, but I guess it is what it is.
