HP Pavilion Desktop - 510-p030
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Can I upgrade the i7-6700T CPU in my HP Pavilion 510-p030 desktop computer?  I want to go from Window 10 to Windows 11 and it says the only issue is the CPU.

Thank you!

Hi, @RodinDestin

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

I installed W11 on my HP Elitedesk 800 G3 35W Desktop Mini PC which has an i5-6500T processor, and it runs W11 just fine.

@RodinDestin , welcome to the Community.

The i7-6700 is the most powerful processor that has been fully tested to be compatible with your motherboard:

Processor upgrade information

  • TDP: 35 W
  • Socket type: LGA 1151
  • Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
    Processor
    TDP
    Integrated Graphics
Intel Core i7-6700T (Skylake) 2.8 GHz Quad Core
    35 W
    Intel HD Graphics (GT2)
Intel Core i5-6400T (Skylake) 2.2 GHz Quad Core
    35 W
    Intel HD Graphics (GT2)
Intel Core i3-6100T (Skylake) 3.2 GHz Dual Core
    35 W
    Intel HD Graphics 530
Intel Pentium G4400T (Skylake) 2.9 GHz
    35 W
    Intel HD Graphics 510
Intel Celeron G3900T (Skylake) 2.6 GHz
    35 W
    Intel HD Graphics 510

Therefore, any other processors would most likely not be compatible.
