Product: HP Pavilion p6-2427c
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to upgrade my HP Pavillion p6-2427 desktop with a Geforce GTX 690 graphics card. I upgraded the chip to an AMD A8-5600 and 24 GB memory and 650 watt PSU. It doesn't recognize the graphics driver when I turn it on. And if I try to install the drivers in windows while my on board graphics card is working then when it reboots it goes through a repair process and removes the drivers. Any advice???

@WRipp01 , welcome to the forum.

 

According to the Specifications of the GTX 690 from nVidia, https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-690/specifications, it requires 2x8-pin power connectors.  Do you have these plugged in?

Hello. Yep the new evga power supply had the dual 8 pin connector. I see the GeForce green all lit up and there’s no concerns booting. It just doesn’t switch to it automatically. It still only he video through the on board dvi connection.

Thank you for the additional information, @WRipp01@!

 

When you install a video card the Integrated video is supposed to be disabled automatically.  This would make your video card the primary video source.  If you are certain that all of the connections are correct, I suggest that you contact the cards Tech Support for help.  They are the experts on their products and should be able to help you get it working properly.  Personally, I can't see any reason why it won't work.

After the card is installed that is the time to install the GTX 690 software package.

Here are step -by -step installation procedures .

 

This comment is predicated that you did not have another GPU card in the unit. If so, revert back to a bootable system and remove the previous software related to that card,

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
