Envy 700-200Z
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have no doubt that I can find these things commercially,  but once I have them, how do I install them.

My question is: where can I find a diagramm of my computer that shows the location of memory parts,  HDD or SSD  and so on.

I have tried the HP web site to no avail.

Help appreciated.

@jstef4, you can use a standard SSD: https://www.newegg.com/samsung-860-evo-series-1tb/p/N82E16820147673?&quicklink=true

The SSD can replace your HDD as the boot drive and the HDD can be used as storage.  This is the best option.  Here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will help you with the transfer for the HDD to the SSD: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Upgrading-Desktop-or-Laptop-to-a-SSD/ta-p/73048...

You will have to assure that there is a spare SATA power connector on your power supply unit (PSU).  Also, you will have to buy a SATA data cable and a 2.5" to 3.5" SSD adapter: https://www.newegg.com/rosewill-rx-c200p-2-x-2-5-drive-to-3-5-bay/p/N82E16817997013

This will allow you to install the 2.5" SSD into a 3.5" drive bay.

@jstef4 , welcome back to the forum.

Here is the Motherboard Specifications page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-700-200-desktop-pc-series/5399651/model/5399836/documen...

This is the best information that is available for the motherboard.  The section titled "Memory upgrade information" lists the compatible memory and the maximum amount.  If you look at the section titled "Expansion Slots" it doesn't show that you have a M.2 socket.  You would have to buy a standard SSD.  The "Motherboard layout" section gives you a better view.

There are numerous videos online to help you with installing any of the components that you want to upgrade.  Here is the memory that is recommended by Crucial Memory: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/envy-700-200z-cto

Most helpful answer, but please one last question:

Does all this mean I have to buy one of the cards listed in expansion slots in order to install an SSD?
