I purchased an Elitedesk 705 G4 Mini tower, to replace an ancient PC. I was looking into adding a pci-e video card (MSI rtx3050 ventus x2 6gb) it only needs 70 watts and doesn't need external 6/8 pin power, but the power supply is only 250 watts, I'm afraid that it won't handle the load.
What are my options in finding a 400-500 watt power supply that will fit this rig and have the correct motherboard connection?
I have done some searching, but my current ps has 7 wires going to the motherboard connector, and all the aftermarket versions only have 3 or 4 wires to the motherboard connector.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
According to the specs, there is a compatible 400-watt power supply for your HP EliteDesk 705 G4 MT.
HP has made it very challenging indeed to provide information which
compatible power supply upgrade options are available for your HP EliteDesk 705 G4 MT beyond that we know that the stock 250-watt PSU has p/n: L29869-001 "SPS-P/S MT 250W ENT18 92pct. HV 12V 1OUT".
I can tell you that based on the 250-watt's "P2" (7-pin) power cable config, these 400-watt power supplies with p/n: L04618-800 / 942332-001 / L69242-800, as well as a 500-watt power supply with p/n: 901759-013 should be a match for your PC.
Btw, a regular full-sized RTX 3050 has a 130-watt TDP, and only the low-profile (low-power) RTX 3050's (fitted with a regular size PCIe bracket for your MT) have a 70-watt TDP. If this is what you have, your stock 250-watt power supply ought to be sufficient to power this card.

Thank you so much for your quick answer, This has the potential to be a decent economy game box.
From what I have been seeing, the rtx 3050 6 gb version is the low power card both full and low pro. The 8 gb 3050 is the 140 watt card, but I will recheck my info.

Hi,
I saw standard ATX power supply (with 2 x 4 pins) adaptation for these MB.
It's necessary to connect the P2 in the ATX 24 pins.
I haven't tried it yet but i'm going to shortly. (i will also put a gpu)
Here a video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXmLxYBcAl4
The oem 180w or 240W si too short on full charge and can be reduce the live of the psu.
