So, I have the following PC:
- HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p
- Motherboard Sunflower HP 8433
- Processor AMD Ryzen 5 2400G 3600MHZ
I recently upgraded the RAM from 8GB to 32GB and have been using the PC for 2 months since then, no problems.
I want my PC to be Windows 11 compatible and found i needed a better Processor, after a lot of research i bought the:
- AMD Ryzen 7 2700X - 3.7 GHz 8-Core AM4
This is where it has gone wrong, I am getting three long beeps followed by 2 short ones, if i put the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G back in, everything works.
My question is, could it be the default Power Supply 180w PSU is not strong enough? I am getting ready to buy a 400w one to replace it.
Thoughts?

Your dilemma should be easily solved by purchasing a discrete graphics adapter.
The onboard Vega graphics is not supported in PC's with the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processors.
Note the integrated graphics specs for the processor at the link below.

Since the PC only has a 180W power supply, I recommend you get a used but tested and working Nvidia GT 1030 GPU.

Or you can upgrade the power supply as you indicated and install a more powerful graphics card.

Thanks for the information, who knew upgrading could be so challenging, but fun 🙂
I have just purchased a 400w power supply: Amazon 400W, I will install that and then go for the graphics card you suggested, think I will do it in stages.
I am just trying to get the PC Windows 11 compliant.
I managed to find out that the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X was not a good idea, i should have gone for the AMD Ryzen 7 2700 without the X, due to the increase in TDP up to 105W TDP with the X, the other one would have been 65W TDP.
I figure the 180W PSU is too low now.
I will do the graphics card next as I do play games sometimes and the L4DII i like has to be set on medium to low settings to work properly.
Looks like I can get a Nvidia GT 1030 GPU for about £60, turns out I only have the onboard RX Vega 11.
Thanks for the help.

You're very welcome.
I didn't even notice the wattage of the processor.
The motherboard only supports the 65W processors.
The heat sink is only rated for up to 95W.

The Ryzen 7 2700 and Ryzen 5 2600 processors are on Microsoft's list of supported W11 AMD processors:

Me...I wouldn't have put a dime into having the PC support W11.
I have installed W11 on more than a dozen HP and Dell notebooks that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements, and they work fine as is.

But now that you are committed to the purchases, that is a moot point.

I have just re-read what you said, I must have been half asleep last week. Its the onboard graphics card of course.
I shall buy one today, the new 400w PSU is installed and fully functional but as you indicated the problem is still there. I need a new graphics card.
Since i know have a 440wPSU i should be able to go for a more powerful one but will keep an eye on the compatibility with the HP Sunflower 8433 Motherboard.
Thanks.
