can I add an ssd to increase storage to a M01-F1024? Can I add an optical drive as well?

Machine only has 1 M.2 SSD slot for storage which is already occupied by  256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD but you can add 3.5" SATA HDD to your machine to have dual storage as the following machine

Of course you have option not to use 3.5" SATA HDD and use 2.5" SATA SSD instead, all you need is an adapter to convert 2.5" drive to 3.5" bay. There are many converters/adapters around, from $10 to $30. For example

For ODD (aka CD/DVD drive) I can't see suitable connector on its motherboard

Is there any advantage to going with a 2.5 with the adaptor vs just getting a 3.5?

I bought a third party ODD and found that I was able to connect it to the motherboard just fine. The only issue I encountered (and a big one at that) was finding a way to mount it as the framework inside is designed for *drumroll please* an HP proprietary part! The ODD I had worked just fine, but it was too big for the frame inside my HP's case. That being said, I then tried one of HP's ODDs and found that it had the same problem. Is there a proprietary ODD that was designed specifically for this model?
