I have an s5710f with an H-Apricot-RS780L uAtx MB. It came with an Athlon II X2 260 cpu. From the support page, it states this MB can support an upgrade to a Phenom II X6 cpu. Which I've purchased. But when I do the upgrade, it will not boot up. It states CPU is not supported and shuts down. Is there anything that has to be done on this MB in order for this CPU to work? Is there a change in the Bios or a jumper somewhere that needs to be changed?
Thanks,
Glenn

According to specs listed here, the 1055T is a 125W chip. You can only use lower powered chips (95W).

You will need to specify the exact Phenom II X6 cpu chip.
Just so you know:
1) The AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor, Black Edition (HDT90ZFBGRBOX) 125W will not work.
2) The machine has Legacy BIOS, and was shipped with WIN7. Neither allows you to upgrade the BIOS.

I'm sorry, I should have stated it is the 1055t. NOT the black addition. Though, now that I've read your reply. The HP web page states in the supported CPU section, is this.
Mother board supports the following processor upgrades:
NOTE: only socket AM3 processors are supported with this motherboard
AMD Phenom II X6 10xxt Six-Core (Thuban core)
I'm not that familiar with these so from reading this, I would assume 10xxt could also mean 1090t. But then someone who is more familiar might know that only the 1055t is the Thuban core. So I still have the question as to shouldn't the 1055t be a drop in upgrade. Or is there still something I have to do, either with the bios or a jumper to get this to work.
thanks for any help you can supply.

Hi, and again, thank you for your response. I now see the max TDP 95Watt. I'm glad I got the answer. I'm not so happy with HP's info page. This was somewhat confusing. I was going solely off the cpu number and core type listed. Who knew there were so many different types with different wattage specs.
thanks again. And from a search, which I should have done before posting, I can see this bit some others here. Oh well. ....
