I currently have a 550-123a pavilion desktop. And a Orchid3 motherboard. Im looking to get a ryzen 3 3200g but am afraid it will not be compatible for that desktop. Im not sure what to do. Is there limitations if i try to upgrade ram? (higher speeds). And is there any limitations to installing a really good gpu? will any of that effect speed? because of the current mother board that i have.
Thankyou

Hello
Everything in its time, what exactly do you want to do ..
The pc so well this one has 8 GB of ram
You can already try to go to 16gb
If only one 8go module, you can try adding another 8go, but it must be identical
You have here all the features and what is compatible CPU RAM ..
HP Pavilion 550-123a Desktop PC Product Specifications
Orchid3 motherboard specifications.
Quad channel memory architecture
Two DDR3 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
Supports DDR3 DIMMs
PC3-14400 (DDR3-1866)
PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600)
PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
Supports 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB DIMMs
Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
note: 32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
Supports up to 16 GB on 64-bit systems

AMD A10 8750 (Godavari) 3.6 GHz Quad Core | 65 W (cTDP – 45 W) | Radeon R7 Series |
AMD A8-8650 (Godavari) 3.2 GHz Quad Core | 65 W (cTDP – 45 W) | Radeon R7 Series |
AMD A6-8550 (Godavari) 3.7 GHz Dual Core | 65 W (cTDP – 45 W) | Radeon R5 Series |
AMD A10-7800 (Kaveri) 3.5 GHz Quad Core | 65 W (cTDP – 45 W) | Radeon R7 Series |
AMD A8-7600 (Kaveri) 3.1 GHz Quad Core | 65 W (cTDP – 45 W) | Radeon R7 Series |
AMD A4-7300 (Kaveri) 3.8 GHz Dual Core | 65 W (cTDP – 45 W) | Radeon HD 8470D |
TRy upgrade memory first
may not be possible, i don't have time to look
But the pc has a big Hard Disk, but quite slow, there it would be more interesting if possible to install a SSD sata, faster!

Thankyou for responding and telling me that. I’m also looking at a ssd to replace my hdd would I be able to easily just swap them out? And also if I wanted a ryzen 3 could I buy another motherboard? Would the ram still work in it? Would that work?
12-17-2019 02:51 PM
And also do you know how fast my hdd is? And what ssd I should get? Could I use a ssd as main boot drive and hdd for storage (I know how to configure it) I just need to know would that be possible in that motherboard orchid 3.

No, replacing the motherboard may be impossible, or very complicated!
to replace the SSD, you have to open the pc to check if there is a location to place it, or if not the choice to remove the original disc!
For the model, you have to try sites with Scan like this:
There are practically all the answers in the links given
Rotational Speed: 5400 RPM
unless the request is if it is sata 3 or other?
The pc is quite new, there is probably at least a sata 6, but I can not say it, I have not read this information!
We can check it simply, with intel storage, the speed is indicated here:
If it is possible to place both yes, this is not a problem.
There are three sata ports on the motherboard
So at least one free ( not use )
