Hi,
I've just bought XFX Speedster SWFT105 Radeon RX 6400 to add come gaming capability to my HP EliteDesk 705 G5 SFF (AMD Ryzen Pro 3700, HP 8618 motherboard). I selected this card as it has very low 43W TDP but sadly after I insert this card, my computer doesn't start. The CPU fan spins and stops so I presume the issue is with my 180W PSU. I can see some owners of this model successfully were able to use this GPU (https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-EliteDesk-705-G5-SFF/161821) but all of them had AMD Ryzen 5 3400G and I think slightly different motherboard (HP 8617) so perhaps this make a difference, even that TDP for both processors are the same.
Any way, now I'm looking for solution how to run the GPU on my computer. I was thinking to move all internal parts to Tower case with bigger PSU, but I'm not sure what I can use. Any advise will be appreciated.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Interesting. I would fully expect to see your RX 6400 (53-watt TDP) run without issues on your HP EliteDesk 705 G5 SFF! Point is, this card wouldn't pull the max TDP watts straight from the get-go, which makes this a curious case.
Reason being, is that HP lists the RX 550X 4GB -which has a very similar TDP (50-watt) as being compatible with your PC as powered by its 180-watt power supply:
Link: https://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/getpdf.aspx/4AA7-6095EEAP.pdf.
So, I would make sure that your PCIe x16 slot is enabled in BIOS (under the Advanced tab), and I would check that your RX 6400 is actually working and not defective by installing it in another PC if you can.
The third possible issue is one you already mentioned: perhaps your power supply is on its way out.
[EDIT:] Another potential issue could be a defective PCIe x16 slot. I would carefully inspect the slot for any damage or debris (dirt). Blow out with compressed ("canned') air, and make sure the RX 6400 is securely 'snapped' in the PCIe x16 slot.
Kind Regards,

Thank you for your reply!
I've checked the card on another computer and it is working perfectly fine. I doubt the issue is with power supplier as everything is working fine. I also wasn't able to find any related settings in bios, just in case attaching photos for your review. I found another, similar conversation on HP forum - sadly without any resolution. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/upgrade-EliteDesk-705-G5-Small-...
I hope there is a solution for this.
Thank you again.

As you showed with an earlier related discussion thread, it is unclear why some Users encounter zero issues powering an RX 6400 with a stock 180-watt power supply, whereas others, like you, have a different experience...
Anyway, did you check the BIOS Advanced tab's "Built-in Device Options" and "Port Options"?
Kind Regards,

I wonder if this is not related to different processor/motherboard. Any way, I've already sent picture of Built-in Device Options in my last post, and I'm attaching port options in this post. I can't see anything what could be related to the issue but if you think any of this setting may be related - please let me know so I will test it.
