Hi:

It should have worked.  I'm assuming you meant to type PC3-12800.

I have two HP 8200 Elite CMT's both running 32 GB of memory, and FWIW, this is the memory I used...

Did you make sure that you firmly seated each memory module?

Did you try adding two at a time?  One in slot 1, one in slot 3, and then add one in slot 2, and one in slot 4?

Usually if the memory is not compatible, the PC will beep 5 times in succession with the red power light flashing, and repeat.

it was a blank screen, no error messages at all.  here is what i boughtramram

Should I leave what is already in the first and third slot and try the 2 new in 2 & 4

okay, i got two to work in the first and third slot, when i put the other two in slots 2 & 4 then nothing happens. Any suggestions?

What if you install the original memory in slots 2 and 4?

I checked the BIOS to see if there was any kind of security setting that disabled memory channels, and there isn't.

So all 4 slots should be working.

If the original memory doesn't work in slots 2 and 4, I would have to say the motherboard is bad.

You could try resetting the CMOS and see if that makes a difference.

See Appendix E of the service manual, pp 304 - 305 for how to clear the CMOS.

okay i put the old memory in slots 2 and 4 now its running at 20 gigs ram,  any idea why the other 8's wont work in slots 2 & 4?

Thank you so much by the wayj!!!!

You're very welcome.

That is baffling.

Try those two memory modules in slots 1 and 3.

If they don't work, then you have two bad memory chips.

If they do work, then try clearing the CMOS.

I'm glad I didn't experience any issues like that when I put the memory in both of my 8200's.
