Upgrading RAM on HP Pavilion 550-153w from 6GB to 16GB

My birthday is next month. For my birthday, I am probably going to upgrade my desktop's memory to 16GB from 6GB. I have found the memory that is compatible on Newegg and Crucial. It's cheaper to purchase the Crucial RAM from Newegg. I am into photography, working on computers, and working on my church's website and Facebook page. Thats what I use my computer for.

Windows 10 Forums said I should consider upgrading to an SSD instead of upgrading the memory as it will have a higher increase in speed than adding more memory. I don't need more storage, as I have an external drive to back up my information to.

The computer is plentiful powerful now. I just want to add the extra memory and later upgrade the processor. It says the processor is upgradable to the i5 or an i7.

Hope someone can help me out with this.

It has 6GB in 2 slots now that means it has 4GB + 2GB You can have following options

(a) To 8GB: discard 2GB and replace with 4GB,

(b) To 12GB: discard 2GB and replace with 8GB,

(c) To 16GB: replace both slots with 8GB each.
